Kafika House

Kafika House

Kafika House is a high-love, low-cost rehabilitative surgery programme in northern Tanzania. Previously known as The Plaster House, we began in 2008, providing a safe, loving home away from home for children receiving pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation for a surgically correctable disability. We treat patients with osteofluorosis, burn scar contractures, cleft lip and palate, clubfoot, masses, osteomyelitis, hydrocephalus and spina bifida in Arusha, Karatu and Moshi. Each child stays about three months with us - the full duration of their healing journey. Our scope of practice encompasses patient recruitment through outreach, surgical care at one of our five partner hospitals, and full recuperation and rehabilitation. We never let cost get in the way of a child receiving the treatment they deserve. We ask parents to make a contribution within their means, and we cover the rest.
