Social Worker

Kafika House is seeking a qualified and compassionate Social Worker to support children receiving treatment for surgically treatable disabilities and their families. The role focuses on supportive counselling, patient advocacy, case management, and ensuring that children receive holistic care throughout their treatment and rehabilitation journey.

Based in Arusha, this position offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment alongside nurses, therapists, mental health professionals, and other specialists. The successful candidate will also contribute to patient monitoring, education programmes, safeguarding, and programme effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with government requirements.

• Prepare and submit timely reports to the Facility Coordinator.

  

• Provide supportive and compassionate counselling to children and their families throughout treatment.

• Work closely with therapists, nurses, mental health professionals, and other healthcare providers to support holistic patient care.

• Support the implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) tools to track patient progress and programme effectiveness.

• Implement and provide training on CPP and PSEAH guidelines.

• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through research and continuing education.

• Support and oversee Education Programmes within the facility in collaboration with the Facility Coordinator and Programmes Manager.

• Perform other duties assigned by the Facility Coordinator.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, or a related field from a recognized institution.

• At least three years of relevant experience in case management, counselling, or community outreach.

• Experience in a hospital, NGO, or social welfare environment is preferred.

• Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to working with patients and families.

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

• Strong time-management and organizational skills.

• Reliability and trustworthiness, with the ability to handle confidential patient information.

• Fluency in written and spoken Swahili and English.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Good report-writing skills.

• Registration with the Tanzania Association of Social Workers (TASWO) is an added advantage.

• Experience working with children, persons with disabilities, or other vulnerable groups is an added advantage.
