Absa is seeking a Motor Claims Consultant to join its team in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity for an experienced short-term insurance professional who can manage motor vehicle claims from initial notification through assessment, repair and final settlement.
The successful candidate will handle both drivable and non-drivable motor claims while ensuring accurate assessments, efficient claim processing, customer satisfaction and compliance with insurance policies and internal procedures. The position also requires regular engagement with customers, brokers, assessors, repairers and other service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Register and manage motor vehicle claims from notification through to final settlement.

Handle both drivable and non-drivable motor claims.

Assess claims accurately in accordance with applicable procedures.

Coordinate and monitor vehicle repair processes.

Liaise with customers regarding claim progress and requirements.

Work with brokers, assessors, panel beaters, repairers and other service providers.

Authorise vehicle repairs in accordance with company guidelines.

Ensure claims are processed according to policy terms and conditions.

Maintain accurate claim records and supporting documentation.

Respond to customer enquiries relating to motor claims.

Resolve customer queries and complaints professionally.

Ensure claims are processed within agreed service levels.

Apply appropriate controls throughout the claims lifecycle.

Support accurate and timely claim settlements.
Motor Claims Management
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the complete claims lifecycle. This includes registering claims, assessing vehicle damage, coordinating assessments and repairs, monitoring progress and ensuring appropriate settlement.
The role requires an understanding of the differences between drivable and non-drivable claims and the ability to coordinate the appropriate repair and assessment processes for each type of claim.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
The position involves regular interaction with various stakeholders, including:

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have:

Matric / Grade 12.

A relevant Short-Term Insurance qualification is advantageous.

A FAIS-compliant qualification is preferred.

RE5 is advantageous.
The advertised education requirement is Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies.
