Full Job Description

Jaza Energy is seeking a technically skilled and proactive Field Technician (Renewable Energy) based in Dodoma. The organization is looking for an experienced technician who can ensure reliable operation and uptime of renewable energy systems across assigned hubs within the region. The role is critical in maintaining system performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring efficient energy delivery to operational sites.

The Field Technician will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining energy systems to ensure high availability and performance. The role focuses on achieving at least 99.9% hub uptime, resolving technical faults quickly, and supporting continuous improvement of renewable energy operations in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor hub energy systems continuously to prevent downtime and ensure operational stability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defective battery packs and technical components in assigned hubs
  • Ensure data from hubs is accurately collected, recorded, and maintained in system dashboards
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as Swap% and PV% across hubs and escalate issues exceeding thresholds
  • Complete hub commissioning, testing, and provide technical sign-off for system go-live
  • Set up hub communication devices such as hub phones and controllers
  • Maintain accurate technical records and system data in operational dashboards
  • Log, track, and resolve technical issues using GitLab ticketing systems
  • Remotely diagnose and resolve hub performance issues where possible
  • Travel to field locations to conduct hands-on troubleshooting and repairs when required
  • Perform routine maintenance of energy systems and equipment
  • Ensure stable connectivity and system communication across all hubs
  • Review technical performance reports and escalate issues to regional coordinators
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair defective equipment and components
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for hub equipment and spare parts
  • Communicate technical challenges and updates to relevant supervisors
  • Support testing of new products, firmware, and system updates
  • Follow technical guidelines and continuously update knowledge of systems and procedures

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in electrical repairs and electronic system diagnostics
  • Familiarity with renewable energy systems and battery technologies
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, software systems, and data analysis platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify root causes and implement technical solutions effectively
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in field environments
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • Willingness to travel frequently within assigned regions
  • Ability to work under pressure in dynamic and remote environments
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and data management
  • Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new technologies
