Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) is inviting applications from qualified and experienced Tanzanians to fill the position of Engineer II (Electro-Mechanical). The successful candidates will support maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of electromechanical systems for railway operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for electric and diesel locomotives
• Support predictive maintenance activities using diagnostic tools and fault history
• Diagnose and repair faults in electromechanical systems including:

  • Electric traction systems
  • Diesel locomotive systems
  • Auxiliary systems such as pumps, compressors, fans, HVAC systems, battery/charger systems, and lighting

• Inspect electrical machinery at quarries and insulation levels of conductors in rolling stock, machinery, and buildings
• Conduct insulation testing, continuity checks, ground fault checks, and performance verification
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians on troubleshooting and safe work practices
• Propose reliability and maintenance improvements including spare parts optimization and procedure updates
• Support onboarding and skills development for maintenance staff
• Use diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, locomotive test tools, and fault code readers
• Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer
