The Artisan II – Mechanical (Diesel-Electric Locomotives) position at Shirika la Reli Tanzania (TRC) is a technical maintenance role within the railway engineering division, focused on ensuring that diesel-electric locomotives and related railway equipment are in safe, functional, and operational condition. The role supports the reliability of train services by performing mechanical servicing, repairs, and maintenance activities on rolling stock and workshop equipment.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Maintaining rolling stock and diesel-electric locomotives
• Maintaining workshop machinery and plant equipment
• Servicing refrigeration and air conditioning systems used in railway operations
• Servicing handling equipment and other ancillary plant systems
• Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications required:

• Form Four Certificate
• Trade Test II / Level II / Level III / National Vocational Award II (NVA II) or Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in Diesel-Electric Locomotive Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

Remuneration is according to the TRCS 1 salary scale.
