Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) is one of Tanzania's leading higher learning institutions specializing in technical education, engineering, and applied sciences. Situated in the heart of Dar es Salaam at the intersection of Morogoro Road and Bibi Titi Mohamed Road, the institute has played a significant role in developing skilled professionals who contribute to the country's industrial and technological advancement. Established by the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology Act No. 6 of 1997, DIT succeeded the former Dar es Salaam Technical College, an institution with a rich history dating back to 1957 when it began as the Dar es Salaam Technical Institute. Over the decades, the institution evolved from offering vocational and technical assistant training to becoming Tanzania's first formal technical college before attaining its current status as a higher education institution. DIT is fully accredited to offer technical and professional education in accordance with national higher education standards. The institute delivers a broad range of academic programmes, including Ordinary Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, and Master's Degree qualifications under the National Technical Awards (NTA) framework.
