Introduction

Jaza Energy is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Construction Technician (Consultancy) based in Dar es Salaam. The organization is looking for a practical field professional who can support the identification, assessment, leasing, and preparation of sites for the establishment of Jaza Hubs or Shops across operational regions.

The Construction Technician will play a key role in transforming approved locations into fully functional service sites by overseeing site acquisition, renovations, installations, and compliance with structural and safety standards. The role ensures that expansion activities are executed efficiently, within budget, and in line with Jaza’s quality and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to assess and identify suitable locations for Jaza Hubs or Shops
• Perform end-to-end site acquisition processes including assessment, leasing, renovation, and installation
• Ensure compliance with acquisition procedures and maintain a rework rate of ≤5%
• Maintain quality standards throughout site acquisition and development processes
• Manage relationships with landlords, vendors, and contractors across assigned regions
• Negotiate lease agreements while ensuring adherence to budget limits
• Prepare, issue, and properly document lease agreements and related paperwork
• Identify renovation needs and communicate requirements to relevant stakeholders
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for site preparation and construction activities
• Ensure compliance with company policies on asset procurement, shipment, and installation
• Verify that all sites meet structural and safety requirements before commissioning
• Implement quality control protocols across all construction and acquisition activities
• Complete and submit all required quality assurance documentation
• Monitor and maintain acquisition performance metrics including rework rates
• Provide regular progress updates to the Construction Engineer
• Present acquisition reports and insights during expansion meetings
• Track and report key metrics such as leased sites, acquired sites, rental rates, and rework levels
• Escalate issues that may affect project timelines or quality standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement of site acquisition processes and criteria

Qualifications

• Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Design, or related field
• Experience in property management, construction management, or facilities management
• Strong knowledge of construction standards and quality control processes
• Experience in site acquisition and leasing negotiations
• Strong project management and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
• Good analytical skills for evaluating site conditions, renovations, and budgets
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with contractors, vendors, and landlords
• Basic leadership and coordination experience is an advantage
• Willingness to travel frequently to remote locations
• Ability to work under pressure and in dynamic field environments
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
