People Project Co Limited is recruiting on behalf of a growing mining company in Tanzania for an experienced MEP & Facilities Manager to oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities infrastructure supporting mineral processing operations and remote-site facilities. The position is responsible for keeping critical plant utilities, infrastructure, workshops, accommodation facilities, and other essential services safe, reliable, and operational.
The successful candidate will provide engineering leadership across maintenance and facilities operations while managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors. The role combines preventive and predictive maintenance, infrastructure management, safety compliance, budgeting, troubleshooting, and project support, making it particularly suitable for an experienced engineering professional with mining or heavy industrial experience.
Responsibilities

Lead mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities maintenance activities across mining operations.

Ensure reliable operation of generators, electrical distribution systems, pumps, motors, water supply systems, workshops, accommodation facilities, and critical infrastructure.

Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.

Maintain maintenance records, asset registers, inspection reports, and equipment histories.

Diagnose equipment faults and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.

Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of new plant equipment and infrastructure.

Oversee maintenance of offices, workshops, accommodation camps, warehouses, and site buildings.

Manage boreholes, water storage tanks, water distribution networks, drainage systems, sanitation facilities, and wastewater infrastructure.

Ensure uninterrupted operation of utilities and support services.

Maintain high standards of facility performance and infrastructure integrity.

Monitor fuel, electricity, and water consumption.

Implement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Maintain adequate supplies of spare parts, maintenance materials, tools, and consumables.

Analyze equipment performance and identify reliability improvement opportunities.

Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of quantities, and contractor submissions.

Coordinate engineering contractors to ensure safe and quality project delivery.

Support plant expansion, infrastructure upgrades, and improvement projects.

Ensure engineering installations and maintenance activities meet required standards.

Ensure maintenance activities comply with occupational health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and engineering requirements.

Enforce safety procedures, including permit-to-work systems, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and confined-space entry controls.

Conduct inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-ups.

Ensure compliance of electrical systems, lifting equipment, pressure systems, fire protection systems, and utilities.

Prepare maintenance budgets, work plans, and resource forecasts.

Monitor maintenance expenditure and optimize operational costs.

Prepare performance reports covering equipment availability, downtime analysis, and maintenance KPIs.

Lead and supervise electricians, mechanics, plumbers, technicians, and other maintenance personnel.

Manage contractor performance and ensure quality workmanship.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Conduct workforce planning, coaching, performance reviews, and staff development.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Professional registration with a recognized engineering body is an added advantage.

Minimum 6–8 years of experience in MEP operations, industrial maintenance, facilities management, or heavy engineering operations.

At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role leading multidisciplinary teams.

Proven experience managing generators, pumps, motors, electrical systems, water infrastructure, and mechanical equipment.

Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

Experience interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, equipment manuals, and maintenance schedules.

Experience in contractor management, budget preparation, maintenance planning, and operational reporting.

At least 3 years of experience in a Plant Manager, Senior Plant Superintendent, or similar leadership role is preferred.

Gold processing operations experience is highly preferred.

Experience in mining or remote operational environments.

Exposure to plant commissioning, expansion projects, and process optimization.

Experience within Tanzania or the East African mining sector is highly desirable.
