Absa Bank Limited is inviting applications for the position of Specialist: Financial Accounting in Sandton, South Africa. This is a full-time opportunity within the bank’s Finance function, with the successful candidate supporting financial analysis, profitability management, performance reporting and business decision-making across the Advice & Investments business.
The role is particularly suited to finance, accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics and data analytics professionals who can work with complex financial information and turn data into practical business insights. The position also provides an opportunity to work closely with Finance teams, Regional Managers, Performance Managers and other senior stakeholders.

Job Summary
The Specialist: Financial Accounting will perform financial analysis and provide financial accounting services. More specifically, the position focuses on profitability and performance analytics for the Advice & Investments business, including adviser performance, remuneration, incentives, campaigns and budgets.
The role requires strong numerical and analytical skills, advanced Excel capability and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities

Analyse and monitor business and adviser profitability, performance and earnings.

Identify financial trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial and performance reports for management and Exco.

Track adviser performance and earnings and provide regular insights to Performance and Regional Managers.

Manage adviser and new-joiner budgets and monitor expenditure against approved budgets.

Perform monthly, quarterly and annual bonus and incentive calculations and simulations.

Administer and report on incentives, vouchers and campaign rewards.

Perform gross-up tax calculations relating to vouchers, rewards and discretionary incentives.

Track and report on national and provincial campaigns.

Monitor campaign performance against established objectives.
-
Communicate campaign results to relevant stakeholders.

Monitor and report on Gated Leadership Council expenditure and related financial performance.

Prepare external engagement and campaign reports.

Respond to ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior stakeholders, Performance Managers and Regional Managers.

Develop and maintain reporting and analytical tools to improve management information.

Support Regional Managers through training and guidance on relevant systems, business rules, Adviser Value Proposition and campaign frameworks.

Work with Finance and business stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve profitability and financial performance.

Support the wider Finance team with financial analysis, reporting and business insights.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have an applicable Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in one of the following fields or a related discipline:

Another relevant quantitative discipline
Candidates should also have:

Experience in financial analysis, management reporting, profitability analysis or business performance analytics.

Ability to interpret large and complex datasets.

Advantageous Skills and Experience

Formal qualification, diploma or recognised learning in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or a related field.

Practical experience with Qlik Sense, Power BI or other business intelligence and reporting tools.

Experience working with large datasets.

Experience developing automated or self-service reporting solutions.

Experience in financial services, banking, investments or wealth management.

Experience with remuneration, incentive, bonus or performance-based calculations.

Knowledge of financial modelling, profitability analysis and management information.
