Job Description

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join its Finance team. The position is based at the Four Seasons Arusha Office and reports to the Assistant Director of Finance. The role is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the Lodge through accurate accounting, strong financial controls, payroll management, taxation, reconciliations, and statutory compliance.

This is a leadership opportunity for a finance professional who is ready to take greater ownership of accounting operations while developing their management career within Four Seasons. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, People & Culture, operational teams, and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial information, effective controls, timely payroll, and compliance with Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements.

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is located in the heart of Central Serengeti, surrounded by the wildlife and landscapes of one of the world's most celebrated wildlife reserves. The lodge features 77 rooms, including 12 suites and 5 villas, as well as several Food and Beverage venues, a Discovery Centre, Kijana Kids Club, spa, fitness centre, and safari experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee core accounting activities and financial operations.

  • Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

  • Manage payroll processing and ensure payroll is accurate and timely.

  • Manage Tanzanian taxation and statutory compliance requirements.

  • Ensure statutory obligations and tax filings are properly managed.

  • Perform and oversee financial reconciliations.

  • Maintain strong financial controls across accounting operations.

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Identify financial risks and opportunities for improving processes and controls.

  • Provide accurate financial information to support business decision-making.

  • Work closely with Finance, People & Culture, and operational leaders.

  • Support compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Strengthen accounting processes and internal controls.

  • Support the development and improvement of the Finance team.

  • Coach and develop team members.

  • Collaborate with operational and leadership teams on financial matters.

  • Ensure payroll, taxation, reporting, and reconciliation deadlines are met.

  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement.

  • Contribute to effective financial governance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or another relevant discipline.

  • Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (T), ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent internationally recognized certification is strongly preferred.

  • Candidates pursuing an advanced recognized professional accounting qualification may also be considered depending on their experience and progression.

  • Relevant experience in accounting or finance operations.

  • Hospitality or other complex operational-environment experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in:

    • Payroll management

    • Taxation

    • Statutory compliance

    • Financial reconciliations

    • Financial reporting

    • Internal controls

    • Month-end and year-end closing

  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian taxation and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Strong technical accounting and financial-control knowledge.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience using financial or accounting systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • High integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgement.

  • Ability to work effectively with operational and senior leadership teams.
