NMB Bank Plc is looking for a Senior Credit Operations Officer – Wholesale, Syndication and SMEs to support the effective administration and disbursement of credit facilities in Dar es Salaam. The role is focused on ensuring that approved loans are accurately processed and disbursed within agreed service-level timelines while maintaining compliance with credit policies and minimizing operational and credit risks.
The successful candidate will support the Manager in overseeing daily credit operations, reviewing loan drawdowns, authorizing transactions, managing overdraft limits, validating customer and loan information, and ensuring accurate data capture in the bank’s systems. The position also involves coaching junior staff and working closely with business and credit teams to maintain high-quality loan operations.
Responsibilities

Support the Manager in ensuring daily loan-disbursement logs are completed within agreed SLAs.

Distribute pending disbursement logs to team members when the Manager is unavailable.

Ensure loan disbursements comply with credit policies and accuracy requirements.

Advise management on operational gaps and arrears requiring improvement.

Review submitted loan drawdowns and ensure all requirements are completed before disbursement.

Create, extend, and amend Overdraft (OD) limits according to approved credit facilities and customer requests.

Review and provide first-level authorization for transactions requiring dual authorization in the core banking system.

Ensure loans submitted by business units are disbursed within agreed SLAs.

Review loan application drawdowns and allocate them to appropriate officers when required.

Verify customer information captured in the core banking and loan management systems.

Conduct first-level validation and approval of captured credit information.

Regularly review disbursement checklists and recommend improvements.

Ensure timely posting of liquidation amounts received from Collection and Special Asset Management (SAM) teams.

Support activities aimed at managing non-performing loans (NPLs).

Process approved amendments to incorrectly booked accounts in a timely manner.

Report suspicious transactions, applications, risk events, and incidents according to established procedures.

Coach junior and newly recruited officers on credit controls and proper validation of credit applications.

Review and capture data required for credit-card limit creation following credit approval.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

More than 3 years of banking experience in Wholesale, SMEs & Syndication, and Retail Credit Operations.

Operational understanding of the loan cycle.

Good knowledge of NMB lending policies and loan products.

Experience working with core banking systems.

Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Data analysis skills.

Experience in loan operations is an added advantage.

Master’s degree in Business Studies is an added advantage.

Professional banking certification(s) are an added advantage.
