Health Volunteer – Medical Attendant (Mortuary) at CCBRT (Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania)

CCBRT is seeking a Health Volunteer – Medical Attendant (Mortuary) to support mortuary and healthcare services at its medical facilities in Dar es Salaam. The organisation is one of Tanzania’s leading providers of specialized healthcare services and community rehabilitation programmes, with strong involvement in maternal and newborn healthcare services.

The selected candidate will mainly support mortuary operations, including body preservation, mortuary hygiene, records management, and postmortem preparation. When not assigned to mortuary duties, the candidate will also perform general health attendant responsibilities under supervision. The role requires shift work and is offered under CCBRT health volunteer terms and conditions.

Main responsibilities include:

• Cleaning and disinfecting the mortuary daily
• Collecting and receiving bodies from hospital wards
• Washing, drying, measuring, and positioning bodies
• Embalming bodies for preservation
• Preparing bodies for postmortem examinations when required
• Maintaining proper administration and record keeping for mortuary services
• Performing additional health attendant duties when assigned
• Working in shifts as scheduled by supervisors

Requirements:

• Form IV certificate with passes in English and Kiswahili
• One-year certificate in Nursing Attendant or Health Attendant course
• Basic training in Mortuary Attendant course
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Medical Attendant
• Experience as a Mortuary Attendant is an added advantage
• Understanding of different religious customs practiced in Tanzania
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic English language ability
• Computer literacy
