The company is currently inviting qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Medical Officer based at the Mtwara Plant in Tanzania. This opportunity is suitable for medical professionals with strong experience in occupational health, emergency care, and workplace wellness within industrial or high-risk operational environments.
The Medical Officer will oversee the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services to employees within the cement manufacturing plant. The role focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of occupational and general health conditions while promoting workplace safety, wellness, and compliance with occupational health regulations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Working closely with nurses and healthcare staff to ensure employees receive quality medical care
- Conducting medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and health screenings for injuries, illnesses, and occupational diseases
- Prescribing medications and referring patients to specialized healthcare providers when necessary
- Providing emergency medical care during workplace accidents and injuries
- Promoting preventive healthcare and wellness programs for industrial workers
- Maintaining accurate and updated medical records including evaluations, treatments, test results, and medications
- Evaluating symptoms and determining appropriate treatment plans for patients
- Prescribing medications in compliance with medical regulations and informing patients about risks and possible complications
- Supervising and evaluating nursing staff and medical assistants to ensure quality healthcare delivery
- Educating employees on nutrition, hygiene, fitness, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Monitoring occupational health risks including respiratory conditions, chemical exposure, and musculoskeletal disorders associated with cement manufacturing
- Coordinating emergency response during workplace incidents and liaising with external hospitals when necessary
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety laws and medical regulations
- Developing and implementing employee health awareness and wellness campaigns
The ideal candidate should possess strong medical knowledge, leadership abilities, and practical experience in occupational healthcare and emergency medical response. Applicants are expected to demonstrate professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work effectively in an industrial environment while supporting employee wellbeing and workplace safety.
Qualifications and Requirements include:
- MBBS Degree or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution
- Valid license to practice medicine in Tanzania
- Certification or training in Occupational Health will be an added advantage
- Minimum of five years post-qualification working experience
- Strong knowledge of occupational health hazards, preventive healthcare, and emergency medicine
- Good understanding of industrial health and workplace safety practices
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare staff, safety teams, and management
