As part of strengthening its sports and extracurricular programmes, FK International Schools is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Head of Sports based in Dar es Salaam.
The Head of Sports will be responsible for leading and managing the school’s sports programme across both primary and secondary campuses. The role focuses on developing a strong sports culture, coordinating sporting activities and competitions, supervising coaches, and ensuring compliance with child protection, health, and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing the school’s sports vision and strategic direction across the campus.
- Managing the full calendar of sports activities including fixtures, tournaments, competitions, performances, educational trips, and sports events.
- Coordinating sports programmes for both primary and secondary school campuses.
- Supervising and line-managing sports coaches to enhance student participation, performance, and talent development.
- Promoting student engagement in sports and physical development activities.
- Ensuring all sports activities comply with child protection policies and health and safety standards.
- Communicating sports schedules, achievements, competition outcomes, and updates to parents, staff, and school leadership.
- Supporting the organization and successful execution of inter-school sports events and extracurricular activities.
- Monitoring sports equipment, facilities, and resource utilization to ensure effective programme delivery.
- Promoting teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship among students.
Qualification and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Cambridge curriculum sports coordination or related school sports leadership roles.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience managing school sports programmes, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
- Good understanding of child safeguarding, health, and safety requirements within educational environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school leadership, coaches, students, and parents.
- Strong planning and team management abilities.
