Silverleaf Academy is inviting experienced fundraising, investment, and partnership professionals to join its Board as a Non-Executive Director specializing in Fundraising, Investments, and Partnerships. This is a pro-bono leadership opportunity designed for individuals passionate about education, social impact, and sustainable growth across Africa.

Silverleaf Academy is a fast-growing network of affordable and high-quality schools in Tanzania focused on transforming education for low-income children through a scalable and technology-enabled learning model. As the organization expands toward serving more than 10,000 students and training over 2,000 educators by 2030, the Board is seeking strategic leaders who can support fundraising, investor engagement, and long-term partnership development.

Role Overview

The Board Member – Fundraising & Investor Expertise will provide strategic guidance on fundraising, investor relations, and financial sustainability while helping Silverleaf strengthen its visibility among philanthropic organizations, impact investors, development finance institutions, and corporate partners.

The successful candidate will support the organization’s growth by opening access to funding opportunities, advising on capital mobilization strategies, and strengthening relationships with donors and investors across East Africa and globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic input on fundraising strategy, investor relations, and financial sustainability
• Support development of ethical, transparent, and sustainable funding partnerships
• Advise on donor engagement and fundraising approaches
• Identify and connect Silverleaf with investors, donors, and corporate partners
• Share insights on impact investing and social finance trends
• Represent Silverleaf at investment forums, funding events, and strategic engagements
• Participate in board meetings, committee sessions, and organizational planning discussions
• Support organizational visibility within philanthropic and investment networks

Ideal Candidate Profile

The role is suitable for candidates who:

• Have strong experience in fundraising, capital raising, philanthropy, development finance, or investor relations
• Possess networks within donor, philanthropic, or investment communities
• Are passionate about education, equity, and social impact
• Can serve as both a strategic advisor and active connector
• Have experience advising boards or senior leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Strong leadership, integrity, and collaborative mindset
• Experience working with social enterprises, NGOs, education initiatives, or impact-driven organizations
• Familiarity with East Africa’s social impact ecosystem is an advantage
• Fluency in English is required, while Kiswahili is an added advantage

Time Commitment

• Monthly virtual board updates and meetings
• Participation in quarterly board engagements in Tanzania or Nairobi
• Ongoing advisory and networking support estimated at 1–2 hours per month
• Occasional representation at strategic funding and investment events

Success Indicators

• Active contribution to board and committee work
• At least one major funding introduction or investment opportunity annually
• Strong contribution to fundraising and investor engagement strategies
• Increased visibility of Silverleaf within philanthropic and impact investment networks
