Service Crew – AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania

AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania is seeking a Service Crew member to support construction and service activities within the Underground Mining department in Geita. The successful candidate will help ensure underground construction and related service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to approved work plans and operating procedures.

This position is suitable for candidates with secondary school education and practical experience in underground mining, construction, civil works, and underground utility operations. The role also requires a strong understanding of workplace safety, job safety analysis, underground procedures, and the ability to work effectively as part of a mining team.

Responsibilities include:

• Follow all workplace safety requirements and use the Take 5 safety tool.
• Comply with underground operating procedures and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
• Support safe working practices across the underground mining team.
• Carry out underground ventilation wall construction activities.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding as required.
• Construct steel skeletons and undertake timber works.
• Maintain proper housekeeping at underground work sites.
• Assemble and install primary ventilation fans.
• Prepare skeleton walls for shotcreting according to approved designs and layouts.
• Construct underground backfill barricade walls.
• Carry out formwork and reinforcement installation for underground construction activities.
• Perform timber works and approved hot work activities in accordance with procedures.
• Support underground civil projects by constructing formwork and installing reinforcement bars.
• Build concrete and cement pads according to approved standards.
• Perform other manual construction and service duties assigned by the Supervisor.
• Participate in training to become competent in underground air and water service line installation.
• Undertake training for offsider and nipper duties where applicable.
• Receive training on underground machines and light vehicle operations where applicable.

Qualifications and requirements include:

• Completion of secondary school education.
• Valid Tanzanian Driving License.
• 2–3 years of operational experience in an underground mining environment.
• Experience operating underground utility vehicles.
• Experience in the erection of underground civil projects.
• Thorough understanding and practical application of the Job Safety Analysis Tool.
• Ability to read and understand work plans and Mining Instructions.
• Understanding of construction and civil works techniques.
• Knowledge of timber formwork and steel fixing works.
• Knowledge of hot work execution and applicable procedures.
• Ability to support reporting, cross-shift communication, planning, and execution of assigned work.
• Ability to coach and support new employees.
