Analyst, Operation Technology at AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania

AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania is seeking a skilled Analyst, Operation Technology to support underground mining operations across Star & Comet, Nyankanga, and Geita Hill. The role is responsible for maintaining reliable operational technology infrastructure, including fiber optic networks, SCADA systems, mine automation, communications, and digital technology solutions that enable safe and efficient underground production.

This position involves installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuously improving operational technology systems while providing 24/7 support for critical underground mining technology and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity, safety, and change management standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot underground Operational Technology (OT) networks.
• Install, splice, fuse, and repair fiber optic cable infrastructure.
• Install, test, commission, and support new underground OT systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on SCADA and other mine automation systems.
• Configure and register underground network devices and maintain network topology.
• Monitor network performance and ensure maximum service availability.
• Protect OT infrastructure from unauthorized physical and logical access.
• Maintain OT system registers and comply with cybersecurity requirements.
• Document system changes and follow approved change management procedures.
• Report network faults, damage, and security incidents promptly.
• Support remote bogging operations and other underground mining technologies.
• Participate in safety, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Evaluate and deploy new technologies to improve mining productivity.
• Carry out special digital technology projects as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• Degree, Diploma, or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Working at Height Certificate.
• Industrial automation and rigging certification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Operational Technology network infrastructure within complex industrial environments.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, maintenance, and administration.
• Experience working in the mining industry.
• Strong knowledge of microwave and optical fiber transmission, SDH/PDH, network security, Cisco VoIP, and managed Wi-Fi.
• Valid Tanzanian driving licence with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
• Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing technologies.
