WWF Tanzania is inviting applications for the position of Finance Intern based in Dar es Salaam. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain practical experience in financial management, accounting operations, donor-funded project finance, and compliance within one of the world's leading conservation organizations.
The successful candidate will support the Accounting Unit in daily financial and administrative operations while developing practical skills in financial documentation, internal controls, procurement compliance, audit preparation, and financial reporting. Throughout the internship, the intern will work under supervision while adhering to WWF's financial policies, donor requirements, and ethical standards.
Responsibilities

Support the filing, organization, and maintenance of financial documents, including invoices, vouchers, contracts, and payment supporting documents.

Ensure financial records are complete, properly referenced, and easily accessible.

Assist in verifying supporting documents such as receipts, approvals, and reconciliations before payment processing.

Support the tracking, issuance, and reconciliation of staff travel advances.

Assist in reviewing staff retirements and reimbursement claims for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with WWF policies.

Identify missing documents, discrepancies, or unusual transactions and report them to Finance staff.

Assist in reviewing procurement documentation to ensure compliance with internal procedures, legal requirements, and donor regulations.

Organize procurement files and maintain audit-ready documentation.

Support the tracking of procurement documentation to ensure timely processing.

Assist in preparing documentation required for internal and external audits.

Retrieve and compile supporting documents requested during audit exercises.

Support the tracking and follow-up of audit documentation requirements.

Observe WWF internal controls, segregation of duties, and ethical standards.

Provide finance support for field activities, including verification of accountability documents.

Assist in reviewing field financial reports and supporting documentation.

Support finance and administrative activities related to project implementation.

Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Accounting Unit Lead, Head of Finance and Administration, or Country Director.
Qualifications Required

University degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.

Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial management practices.

Good organizational and document filing skills.

Basic computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Willingness to learn and work under supervision.

Good communication skills in English.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Commitment to complying with WWF policies, code of conduct, and ethical standards.
