People Powering Biodiversity (PPB) Internship

WWF Tanzania is inviting applications from passionate and motivated young Tanzanians for the People Powering Biodiversity (PPB) Internship based in Masasi, Ruvuma Region. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and young professionals who are interested in biodiversity conservation, youth engagement, and community development to gain valuable practical experience while contributing to meaningful environmental initiatives.

The successful intern will support the establishment and strengthening of youth networks across the Ruvuma Landscape, helping to increase youth participation, leadership, and ownership in biodiversity conservation efforts. Working closely with local communities, government institutions, conservation partners, and youth organizations, the intern will play an important role in promoting youth-led conservation actions and supporting WWF Tanzania's mission to protect nature and improve livelihoods.

Responsibilities

• Support the establishment and strengthening of youth networks across the Ruvuma Landscape.

• Promote meaningful youth participation in biodiversity conservation initiatives.

  

• Facilitate youth-centered conservation activities and engagement platforms.

• Support youth leadership and ownership of conservation programmes.

• Serve as a link between WWF Tanzania and strategic youth networks, including the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN).

• Engage with youth groups, local communities, government officials, and conservation partners.

• Support the integration of youth perspectives into community-led conservation programmes.

• Provide logistical and operational support for meetings, workshops, campaigns, and other youth engagement activities.

• Monitor and track youth participation and project implementation progress.

• Document project outcomes, lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.

• Prepare reports on youth engagement and biodiversity conservation activities.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management, Forestry, Environmental Studies, Community Development, Social Studies, or a related field.

• At least one (1) year of experience working with youth initiatives and networks.

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in project management or project coordination.

• Familiarity with the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).

• Knowledge of data collection and knowledge management systems.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Good presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Strong coordination and organizational abilities.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

• Flexibility and willingness to work in dynamic field environments.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be Tanzanian nationals.

• Be between 18 and 30 years of age.

• Be willing to work in Masasi and travel to field locations within the Ruvuma Landscape.
