TRANSPORT OFFICER
TMHS GROUP LIMITED is recruiting a Transport Officer for its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department based at HQ-Masaki in Dar es Salaam. The role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day fleet and transport operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of company personnel, equipment, and materials across Tanzania.
The successful candidate will coordinate transport logistics, supervise drivers, ensure compliance with Tanzanian transport regulations, oversee vehicle maintenance, and manage operational efficiency within the organization’s fleet operations. The role requires strong operational planning, regulatory knowledge, and leadership skills within a transport and logistics environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning, coordinating, and monitoring daily fleet dispatch schedules and route planning activities.
- Optimizing transport routes to improve fuel efficiency and ensure timely movement of personnel and goods.
- Ensuring compliance with Tanzanian transport laws and regulatory requirements, including LATRA regulations, TRA registrations, vehicle insurance, and axle load standards.
- Supervising drivers and dispatch teams to ensure professionalism, discipline, and operational efficiency.
- Conducting regular driver safety briefings and ensuring drivers possess valid licenses with appropriate classifications.
- Overseeing routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs of company vehicles.
- Monitoring fleet roadworthiness and minimizing operational downtime.
- Tracking transport costs, fuel consumption, and operational expenses.
- Managing fuel cards, transport allowances, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Acting as the primary contact person during vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or transport-related emergencies.
- Coordinating rapid response and documentation for incidents occurring during operations.
- Supporting efficient transport operations within the Emergency Medical Services department.
Qualifications Required:
- Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, National Institute of Transport (NIT) qualifications, or related business field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management or transport operations.
- Strong understanding of the Tanzanian Road Traffic Act, LATRA compliance requirements, and vehicle inspection standards.
- Experience using GPS tracking systems and route optimization tools.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate drivers and operational support staff effectively.
- Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The position is a full-time role reporting to the Head of Emergency Medical Services within the EMS department.
