Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) is inviting applications from qualified and experienced Tanzanians to fill the position of Signal & Telecommunication Technician II. The successful candidates will support installation, maintenance, and operation of railway signal and telecommunication systems.

Position: Signal & Telecommunication Technician II
Number of Positions: 5
Application Period: 19 May 2026 – 1 June 2026

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, design, construct, and maintain signal and telecommunication equipment and systems
• Oversee utilization and expansion of fibre optic cable along the railway network
• Install, maintain, and repair SGR/MGR signal and telecommunication networks and equipment
• Participate in railway accident investigations with other departments
• Support maintenance of:

  • Train control systems
  • Electronic warrant systems
  • Cargo and wagon tracking systems
  • Yard radio systems
  • Underground cables
  • Internal office communication systems

• Contribute to preparation of technical reports, plans, and designs for signal and telecommunication projects
• Prepare project quantity and cost estimates
• Prepare and submit periodic technical reports
• Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Ordinary Diploma in:

  • Telecommunication Engineering
  • Or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
