Diamond Trust Bank is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Senior Officer – Credit Review & Control based in Dar es Salaam. The bank is seeking a competent individual capable of supporting credit portfolio monitoring, strengthening credit control systems, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory credit standards.
The Senior Officer – Credit Review & Control will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring the bank’s advances portfolio, identifying stressed assets, supporting credit risk management processes, and ensuring compliance with approved credit conditions. The successful candidate will work closely with the Credit Review & Control team to improve supervision techniques and maintain a healthy credit portfolio within the bank.
Responsibilities
- Review the credit portfolio on a daily basis and identify key accounts for follow-up and regularization
- Liaise directly with the Head of Credit Review & Control to identify stressed assets and recommend corrective measures
- Review credit assessments conducted by business teams to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines
- Identify unauthorized account overdrawings and ensure accountability and regularization procedures are followed
- Monitor compliance with the credit control framework and periodic submission of client returns and covenant requirements
- Conduct post-disbursement reviews to monitor compliance with sanction conditions
- Follow up on submission of updated financial statements and account operations reviews
- Monitor security perfection processes and compliance with approval conditions by MCC, TRC, and BCC
- Supervise low-rated and stressed accounts, including Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), in collaboration with DRU where required
- Prepare management reports and support portfolio monitoring activities
- Support implementation of improved monitoring and supervision systems for the credit portfolio
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Economics, or related field
- Minimum of 1–3 years’ banking experience in a Credit Department
- Experience handling corporate and retail credit assessments and monitoring is preferred
- Strong evaluation and analytical skills
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Ability to manage large volumes of information effectively
- Ability to add value through management reporting
- Good relationship-building and networking skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
