The Senior Accountant role within the Finance department is a key financial management position responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting overall financial control. The role also involves supervising junior accounting staff and contributing to budgeting and financial planning processes.

Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, proper record-keeping, and compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. The role also involves supervising accounting staff, preparing financial statements, and supporting effective financial management across hotel operations.

  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and management reports
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies
  • Supervise and review the work of junior accounting staff to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Reconcile financial accounts and resolve discrepancies in financial records
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes for hotel operations
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure proper cost allocation across departments
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required financial documentation
  • Maintain proper documentation of financial transactions and records
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making

Qualification

  • Relevant Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a reputable hotel, lodge, restaurant, or hospitality establishment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliation
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English language communication
  • Computer literacy, especially in accounting software and MS Excel
  • Previous supervisory experience will be an added advantage
