The university is currently inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates to fill positions for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Community Development based in Iringa, Tanzania. This opportunity is suitable for academic professionals with strong expertise in Community Development, Project Planning and Management, and related disciplines who are passionate about teaching, research, and higher education development.

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Community Development will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducting academic and applied research, supervising students, and participating in consultancy and community engagement activities. The role requires strong academic qualifications, research competence, leadership ability, and commitment to excellence in higher education teaching and professional practice.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students effectively in Community Development and related subjects
  • Conducting academic and applied research activities
  • Undertaking consultancy and professional engagement activities
  • Participating in community outreach and university development programs
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic and research work
  • Preparing teaching materials, coursework, assessments, and academic reports
  • Contributing to departmental research publications and academic projects
  • Participating in academic meetings, seminars, workshops, and institutional activities
  • Supporting curriculum development and academic quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentoring students and junior academic staff where required

The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Community Development, Project Planning and Management, or related disciplines, along with university teaching capability and research competence suitable for higher education institutions. Applicants are expected to demonstrate professionalism, communication skills, leadership ability, and commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • PhD in Community Development, Project Planning and Management, or related Protected Areas discipline
  • Master’s Degree in Community Development with a minimum GPA of 4.0
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and above
  • Degrees obtained from recognized universities
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Strong supervision and mentoring skills
  • ICT competence and ability to use academic technologies effectively
  • Leadership ability and professional integrity
  • Ability to work collaboratively within academic teams
  • Evidence of scholarly publications and academic research contributions
