Job Description

Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established to provide children in Kigamboni with access to high-quality English-medium education close to home. As part of its continued growth, HBS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and record management while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Post journal entries and perform general ledger reconciliations
  • Support tax filing and statutory compliance requirements, including TRA, NSSF, WCF, and PAYE obligations
  • Assist in internal audits and the maintenance of accurate financial documentation
  • Support the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and cost-tracking activities
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documents
  • Assist in monitoring transactions and ensuring compliance with financial procedures

Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • NBAA registration as ATEC or Graduate Member is an added advantage
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or Zoho is an added advantage
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
