Kitengule Hospital is inviting applications from qualified and experienced healthcare professionals for the position of Hospital Patron based in Dar es Salaam. The hospital is seeking a strong nursing leader capable of overseeing nursing operations, improving patient care standards, and ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality healthcare services across all departments.
The Hospital Patron will serve as a senior nursing leadership professional responsible for supervising nursing services, coordinating patient care operations, enhancing patient experience, and promoting excellence in healthcare delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with nursing teams, clinicians, patients, and hospital management to strengthen service quality, professionalism, and customer satisfaction within the hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and supervision of nursing services across all hospital departments
- Ensure compliance with nursing standards, policies, procedures, and professional ethics
- Monitor nursing performance and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Support, mentor, and guide nursing staff to achieve excellence in patient care
- Promote professionalism, accountability, and discipline among nursing personnel
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care
- Monitor patient satisfaction and coordinate initiatives to improve patient experience
- Investigate and address patient complaints, concerns, and service gaps
- Conduct regular patient care rounds and assessments of nursing services
- Participate in quality assurance, infection prevention, and patient safety programs
- Coordinate nursing staffing requirements and deployment to ensure adequate coverage
- Monitor adherence to hospital Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Participate in policy development and implementation related to nursing services
- Prepare and submit nursing performance and patient care reports to management
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient service delivery
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families
- Promote a culture of dignity, compassion, and respect in patient care
- Ensure timely resolution of patient concerns and complaints
- Strengthen communication between patients, nursing teams, and hospital management
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or Diploma in Nursing
- Valid registration and practicing license from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC)
- Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management, Health Services Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing experience
- At least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Demonstrated experience in hospital nursing management and patient care coordination
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili
- Computer literacy and ability to prepare reports and presentations
- Strong nursing leadership and management skills
- Commitment to quality improvement and patient safety
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Ability to motivate and lead multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent customer care and patient relations skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic healthcare environment
- Strong strategic thinking and organizational skills
