Silverleaf Academy is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the organization’s AI-first expansion strategy across Tanzania. The position is based in Arusha with a hybrid working arrangement and offers an opportunity to help scale affordable, high-quality education from 5 to 30 schools serving more than 10,000 learners.

The successful candidate will work directly with the CEO and executive leadership team to build and execute the organization’s technology and AI strategy. The role focuses on developing scalable systems, integrating AI into academics and operations, and driving digital transformation within the growing school network.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the organization’s AI and technology roadmap aligned with strategic goals
• Integrate AI solutions across academics, operations, and internal systems
• Continuously test, improve, and optimize AI-driven tools and workflows
• Mentor and upskill the technology team in AI tools and best practices
• Guide engineering decisions, system architecture, and code reviews
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, and overall performance
• Build AI-powered products such as AI tutors and internal operational tools
• Drive rapid prototyping and simplify technical concepts for non-technical teams
• Collaborate closely with leadership, product, and operations teams

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience working as a CTO, Tech Lead, or Senior Engineer
• Strong hands-on expertise in AI and machine learning, including LLMs, APIs, and automation tools
• Proven experience building and scaling technology products or platforms
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
