Graduate Engineer, UG Drill and Blast

AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania is seeking a motivated and qualified Graduate Engineer, UG Drill and Blast to join its underground mining operations in Geita. This opportunity is designed for mining engineering graduates who want to gain practical experience and develop technical skills in underground drilling and blasting operations within a large-scale mechanized mining environment.

The successful candidate will support daily underground drill and blast activities, including planning, reporting, quality control, data management, and safety compliance. The role provides hands-on exposure to underground mining processes while working alongside experienced engineers and operational teams to achieve safe and efficient production outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily drill and blast reports, schedules, and plans in line with site production requirements.

• Participate in weekly and monthly explosive store inspections.

  

• Prepare charge plans and support drill and blast planning activities.

• Prepare drill designs according to operational requirements.

• Assist in preparing drill and blast stope note inputs.

• Perform administrative duties and participate in site audits when required.

• Report safety issues related to underground drill and blast operations.

• Ensure compliance with statutory safety and environmental reporting requirements.

• Support Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) monitoring and data collection for drill and blast activities.

• Follow Geita Gold Mining Ltd safety and health policies and procedures.

• Comply with company environmental standards and operational requirements.

• Assist the Senior Engineer in preparing monthly underground drill and blast progress reports.

• Participate in electronic blasting preparation activities.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within underground drill and blast operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mining Engineering.

• Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.

• Valid Blasting Certificates.

• Minimum of one (1) year working experience in underground drill and blast operations.

• Experience working in a mechanized mining environment.

• Experience managing teams and achieving operational objectives.

• Good understanding of underground mining and haulage operations.

• Knowledge of drill design principles and assumptions.

• Ability to make independent decisions and develop contingency plans.

• Experience managing operational data and preparing technical reports.

• Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse teams.

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across multiple mining disciplines.

• Ability to work with minimum supervision while maintaining safety and operational priorities.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
