AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania is seeking a qualified and skilled Technician 2 – E&R – Condition Monitoring to join its operations in Geita. This role provides an opportunity for mechanical and maintenance professionals to support mining equipment reliability through condition monitoring, inspections, diagnostics, and technical reporting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential equipment failures before they occur by using advanced monitoring techniques and diagnostic tools. The position plays an important role in improving equipment availability, operational safety, and maintenance efficiency within a large-scale mining environment.
Responsibilities

Monitor the condition of mobile and fixed mining equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Use computerized condition monitoring systems and diagnostic equipment to assess equipment performance.

Operate tools including vibration data collectors, thermography cameras, sound analyzers, and ultrasonic thickness gauges.

Analyze monitoring data to identify equipment issues and recommend corrective actions.

Conduct component inspections using Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), and Ultrasonic Flaw Detection techniques.

Assist with equipment balancing and alignment activities.

Collect and monitor oil and grease samples for laboratory analysis.

Prepare action notes, technical reports, and equipment condition records.

Identify lubrication system problems such as leaks or abnormal lubricant conditions.

Report abnormal equipment conditions immediately to relevant supervisors.

Support Reliability Engineers in maintenance improvement activities.

Stop unsafe work practices and promote compliance with workplace safety requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements

University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

VETA qualification at NTA Level 3 in Diesel Mechanics, Full Technician Certificate, Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or equivalent qualification.

Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.

Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Condition Monitoring Technician in the mining industry, preferably in Asset Reliability Monitoring.

Experience working with Heavy Mobile Equipment and Fixed Plant assets.

Knowledge and practical skills in using condition monitoring diagnostic tools.

Ability to interpret, analyze, and prepare technical reports from monitoring data.

Experience conducting condition monitoring using techniques such as Magnetic Particle Testing (MP) and Penetrant Testing (PT).

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.
