Tanzania Shipping Company Limited (TASHICO) is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Ordinary Sailor II. The successful candidate will support day-to-day vessel operations, including maintaining cleanliness, assisting with cargo activities, carrying out lookout duties and supporting emergency response.

Ordinary Sailor II – 1 Position

The Ordinary Sailor II will perform a range of operational and maintenance duties aboard the vessel. The role includes supporting vessel cleanliness, rescue boat maintenance, cargo handling, rope work, passenger assistance and emergency activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing general cleaning of the vessel
• Ensuring that equipment, utensils and work areas are kept clean
• Maintaining rescue boats
• Standing lookout watch
• Performing painting work on the vessel
• Directing the loading and offloading of cargo
• Performing lashing and rope work
• Performing laundry duties
• Maintaining gangway watch to prevent unauthorized persons from boarding the ship
• Responding as a member of the emergency team during vessel emergencies
• Resolving passenger problems or referring them to the mate
• Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications Required:

• Form IV Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or Form VI Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE)
• Basic Mandatory Certificates as required under STCW95
• Rating Forming Part of a Navigation Watch (RFPNW) certification
• At least one year of sea service in a relevant field
