Boiler Maker at African Underground Mining Services

African Underground Mining Services (AUMS) is looking for a qualified and experienced Boiler Maker to join its team in Geita, Tanzania. The position focuses on the fabrication, manufacture, maintenance, and repair of metal structures and equipment used in workshop and mining operations.

The successful candidate will be expected to work safely, maintain high-quality fabrication standards, and support equipment availability and productivity. Applicants should have practical welding and metal fabrication experience, together with the ability to work effectively under the guidance of supervisors and trainers.

Responsibilities include:

• Follow all HS&E policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Use safety devices and personal protective equipment correctly.
• Report hazardous situations that cannot be corrected immediately.
• Take appropriate action to eliminate or control workplace hazards where required.
• Immediately report any accident or injury arising during work activities.
• Comply with company policies and procedures as they are introduced or amended.
• Take reasonable care of personal safety and the safety of others affected by work activities.
• Carry out pre-start checks and SWICs.
• Inspect and maintain equipment before use.
• Work to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
• Carry out welding repairs on machinery, buckets, and frames.
• Fabricate structural items for workshop and mining operations, including doors, lock-up areas, stands, and brackets.
• Use equipment such as Air Arc, Oxy Acetylene, grinders, and drills.
• Design and fabricate structural items according to operational requirements.
• Perform assigned manufacturing, fabrication, and repair activities under the direction of the immediate supervisor and trainer.

Qualifications required:

• Good welding skills, particularly Arc and MIG welding.
• At least 2 years of post-apprenticeship work experience.
• Good knowledge of metal cutting, structural design, fabrication, and finishing techniques.
• Strong service and maintenance approach to assigned work.
• Willingness to learn and improve welding and fabrication skills.
• Basic First Aid knowledge.
• Ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
• Completed secondary school education.
• Relevant post-trade skills.
• Basic numeracy skills.
• Basic verbal and written English communication skills.
