Accounts Manager at World Vision Tanzania
World Vision Tanzania is seeking an experienced finance professional for the position of Accounts Manager in Arusha. This full-time leadership role is responsible for strengthening internal controls, ensuring financial compliance, managing disbursements and cash flow, overseeing financial reporting, and providing technical leadership to the finance team.
The successful candidate will oversee balance sheet management, donor and statutory reporting, bank reconciliations, Sun Systems administration, staff capacity building, and financial governance while supporting the Finance and Support Services Director in implementing strategic finance initiatives.
Responsibilities

Strengthen internal controls and enhance financial compliance.

Manage disbursements and cash flow across World Vision Tanzania operations.

Oversee mobile money disbursement management.
-
Coordinate timely monthly financial reporting with field finance teams.

Prepare annual statutory financial statements in accordance with IPSAS, IFRS, NGO regulations, and World Vision requirements.

Ensure Field Financial Reports are reviewed, approved, and filed by the 15th of the following month.

Review monthly bank reconciliations for all WVT bank accounts.

Ensure no long outstanding cheques or deposits in transit.

Perform monthly project budget and actual system reconciliations for all funding streams.

Reconcile direct donor funding and support office funding on a monthly basis.

Ensure budget journal vouchers are posted accurately and on time.

Update additional revenue commitments within Sun Systems.

Review monthly General Ledger funding reconciliations with the Global Centre.

Resolve outstanding reconciliation items exceeding 60 days.

Provide technical support to the finance team.

Ensure data security and integrity within the Sun Systems database.

Manage user access to R2R and P2P finance systems.

Coordinate creation of account codes and account combinations.

Provide oversight for staff account allocation.

Ensure monthly reconciliation and cleanup of balance sheet items.
-
Perform vendor account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
-
Share aging analysis reports for balance sheet items with relevant staff.
-
Develop finance staff capacity-building plans.
-
Support training of non-finance staff on financial statements and partnership policies.

Support rollout of global and local finance initiatives.

Manage performance, appraisals, leave, and succession planning for supervised staff.

Participate in daily devotions and support spiritual development.

Maintain positive relationships with donors, Support Offices, and key stakeholders.

Perform other duties assigned by the Finance and Support Services Director.
Qualifications Required
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

CPA (T) qualification.
-
Master’s Degree in Finance or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in NGOs, including managerial experience.

Experience preparing financial reports.
-
Experience working closely with audit processes and resolving audit issues.

Proficiency in Sun Systems.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

PowerPoint presentation skills.
-
Ability to adapt to organizational change and support implementation.
-
Proficiency in English.
-
Proficiency in Kiswahili.
