CRDB Bank Plc is seeking a qualified and experienced finance professional for the position of Senior Specialist – Financial Reporting in Dar es Salaam. The role is responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s financial reports are accurate, complete, timely, and prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), regulatory requirements, Bank policies, and applicable financial procedures.
The position is particularly suitable for an accounting or finance professional with practical experience in financial reporting and strong knowledge of IFRS. The successful candidate will work on financial statements, trial balances, audit processes, IFRS 9 and IFRS 16 requirements, Expected Credit Losses (ECL), financial disclosures, journals, and management reporting.
About the Role
The Senior Specialist – Financial Reporting will support the preparation and review of the Bank’s and Group’s financial information. The role requires a high level of accuracy because the position deals with financial statements, accounting adjustments, regulatory reporting, and information used by management and the Board.
The successful candidate will also work closely with auditors, subsidiaries, business units, finance teams, and other stakeholders to resolve reporting issues and ensure that financial information is properly captured and reported.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual trial balances.

Ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and closed within required deadlines.

Supporting the preparation of the Bank’s audited financial statements.

Supporting preparation of Group financial statements in compliance with IFRS.

Ensuring financial statements comply with regulatory requirements and internal reporting policies.

Coordinating internal and external audit activities.
-
Providing required documentation and information to auditors.
-
Responding to audit queries within agreed timelines.

Following up on audit recommendations.

Supporting the resolution of audit findings.

Preparing quarterly Board and Management performance reports.

Analysing actual financial results against budgets, forecasts, and previous periods.

Supporting IFRS 16 compliance.

Maintaining lease schedules and calculating lease liabilities and right-of-use assets.

Preparing IFRS 16-related financial statement disclosures.

Ensuring proper amortisation, recognition, and deferral of loan facility fees and transaction costs under IFRS 9.

Ensuring appropriate application of IFRS 9 requirements for effective interest rate calculations.

Ensuring accurate recognition of interest income.

Applying appropriate accounting treatment to financial assets and liabilities.

Managing non-earning assets.

Computing Expected Credit Losses (ECL) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Validating ECL assumptions and reconciling ECL outputs.

Posting relevant accounting entries into core banking and general ledger systems.

Preparing and posting month-end and year-end journals.

Preparing accruals, provisions, adjustments, and reclassification entries.

Ensuring financial reporting accurately reflects the Bank’s financial position.

Liaising with business units, subsidiaries, and finance teams to obtain accurate Group financial information.

Resolving financial reporting issues with relevant stakeholders.

Ensuring completeness and accuracy of IFRS disclosures.

Preparing notes to the financial statements and supporting schedules.

Assisting with the review and updating of the accounting manual.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.

CPA, ACCA, or another relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.

At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting.

Strong practical knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards.

Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.

Experience preparing financial reports and trial balances.

Knowledge of accounting standards, including GAAP and IFRS.

Understanding of financial policies and procedures within the banking industry.
