Tailor

Mount Meru Hotel, a five-star hotel in Arusha, is seeking an experienced Tailor to join its housekeeping team. The role is responsible for repairing and altering hotel linen, staff uniforms, curtains, and upholstery, as well as producing new staff uniforms according to the hotel’s specifications.

The position is suitable for an experienced tailor with strong garment-making and repair skills. The successful candidate should be comfortable operating industrial sewing machines, performing hand-sewing work, maintaining accurate repair records, and completing assignments within required deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Repair and alter hotel linen, staff uniforms, curtains, and upholstery.

• Take accurate measurements of hotel staff.

  

• Sew new staff uniforms according to hotel specifications.

• Inspect linen and uniforms for damage.

• Complete necessary repairs before linen and uniforms are returned for use.

• Operate industrial sewing machines safely and effectively.

• Perform hand-sewing and garment repair tasks where required.

• Maintain and care for sewing equipment.

• Report sewing machine faults and equipment problems to the supervisor.

• Record items received for repair.

• Maintain records of repaired and returned items.

• Ensure completed work meets the hotel's required quality standards.

• Complete tailoring and repair assignments within agreed deadlines.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum 3–4 years of tailoring experience.

• Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is preferred.

• Certificate in Tailoring, Garment Making, or a related trade.

• Practical experience operating industrial sewing machines.

• Good hand-sewing and garment repair skills.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to produce quality repairs and alterations.

• Ability to work according to deadlines.

• Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
