Laundry Attendant

Mount Meru Hotel, a five-star hotel in Arusha, is seeking a Laundry Attendant to join its laundry team. The position is responsible for handling hotel linen and guest garments through the washing, drying, pressing, folding, and packing processes while maintaining the hotel’s required quality standards.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates with practical experience in hotel or commercial laundry operations. The role requires knowledge of laundry equipment, chemicals, and fabric care, as well as the ability to work shifts and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate washing machines, dryers, and pressing equipment.

• Wash and process hotel linen and guest laundry.

  

• Sort soiled items according to fabric type, colour, and level of soil.

• Select appropriate chemicals and washing cycles for different fabrics.

• Iron, fold, and pack clean linen and guest garments according to hotel standards.

• Inspect laundry items to ensure they meet required quality standards.

• Report equipment faults to the appropriate supervisor or department.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laundry working area.

• Follow proper laundry, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a hotel or commercial laundry environment.

• Completion of secondary education (O-Level).

• Certificate in Laundry Operations is an added advantage.

• Knowledge of laundry chemicals.

• Understanding of fabric-care procedures.

• Ability to operate laundry machinery.

• Ability to work shifts.

• Ability to stand for long periods.

• Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
