Job Description

Mount Meru Hotel, a five-star hotel in Arusha, is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Shift Supervisor to oversee housekeeping activities during assigned shifts. The position involves supervising room attendants and public-area cleaners, assigning daily duties, inspecting rooms, and ensuring that the hotel maintains its required cleanliness and presentation standards.

This role is suitable for a hospitality professional with practical housekeeping experience and previous supervisory responsibility. The successful candidate should be able to coordinate staff effectively, identify maintenance issues, manage housekeeping supplies, and respond professionally to guest requests and complaints.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise room attendants and public-area cleaners during the assigned shift.

  • Allocate guest rooms and daily housekeeping duties to team members.

  • Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with hotel cleanliness standards.

  • Identify and report maintenance faults in guest rooms and public areas.

  • Follow up with the relevant departments to ensure reported repairs are completed.

  • Control the distribution of cleaning supplies and guest amenities.

  • Monitor consumption of housekeeping supplies and amenities.

  • Handle guest requests related to housekeeping.

  • Respond professionally to housekeeping-related guest complaints.

  • Train and guide housekeeping staff to maintain consistent service standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 4–5 years of hospitality experience in housekeeping operations.

  • Certificate or Diploma in Hotel Management, Housekeeping, or a related field.

  • Proven ability to supervise housekeeping teams.

  • Experience training and scheduling housekeeping staff.

  • Knowledge of hotel cleanliness standards.

  • Knowledge of hygiene and health and safety requirements.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
