Laundry Manager

Mount Meru Hotel, a five-star hotel in Arusha, is seeking an experienced Laundry Manager to oversee its laundry operations. The position, also advertised as Laundry Supervisor, is responsible for managing the laundry team, maintaining high-quality linen and garment care, controlling chemical usage and departmental costs, and ensuring efficient daily operations.

This opportunity is best suited to a hospitality professional with several years of experience in hotel or commercial laundry operations. The successful candidate should have practical knowledge of industrial laundry equipment, laundry chemicals, fabric-care standards, team supervision, and departmental budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the hotel laundry department.

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate the laundry team.

  

• Prepare work schedules for laundry attendants and pressers.

• Supervise laundry attendants and pressers to ensure efficient workflow.

• Control the stock and usage of laundry chemicals.

• Manage the laundry department budget and operational costs.

• Enforce quality standards for hotel linen, staff uniforms, and guest laundry.

• Ensure proper handling and care of different fabrics and garments.

• Plan preventive maintenance for laundry equipment in coordination with the Engineering Department.

• Monitor laundry output and operational performance.

• Prepare reports on laundry production and operating costs.

• Track and report linen losses to hotel management.

• Ensure laundry operations consistently meet five-star hotel quality standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum 5–6 years of hospitality laundry experience in a hotel or commercial laundry environment.

• Diploma in Hotel Management, Laundry Operations, or a related field.

• Proven experience managing a laundry team.

• Experience managing a departmental budget.

• Knowledge of industrial laundry equipment.

• Knowledge of laundry chemicals and their proper use.

• Understanding of fabric-care and laundry quality standards.

• Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
