Executive Housekeeper

Mount Meru Hotel, a five-star hotel in Arusha, is seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper to lead its housekeeping department. This is a senior hospitality position responsible for maintaining the hotel’s cleanliness and presentation standards across guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and linen operations.

The role is particularly suitable for an experienced hospitality professional with strong housekeeping leadership, budgeting, staff-management, and quality-assurance experience. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain high hygiene and safety standards while ensuring efficient use of departmental resources.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of the housekeeping, laundry, and linen departments.

• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and appraise housekeeping employees.

  

• Establish and enforce cleanliness and presentation standards.

• Maintain five-star standards across guest rooms and public areas.

• Prepare and manage the housekeeping departmental budget.

• Monitor labour, cleaning-supply, and other operational costs.

• Manage inventory of linen, uniforms, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities.

• Plan deep-cleaning and refurbishment programmes in coordination with the Engineering Department.

• Handle escalated guest complaints related to housekeeping.

• Review guest feedback and implement improvements where necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum 5–6 years of hospitality experience in a large-inventory hotel.

• Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, or a related field.

• Proven experience leading a housekeeping department.

• Experience managing a departmental budget.

• Knowledge of hotel hygiene, health and safety, and quality-assurance standards.

• Strong leadership skills.

• Excellent planning and organizational abilities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
