The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities on heavy mining equipment while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient equipment performance.

This role is suitable for qualified mechanical professionals with hands-on experience maintaining Heavy Mining Equipment (HME). The successful candidate will support improved equipment reliability through inspections, timely repairs, defect reporting, and effective participation in maintenance planning activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical inspections during preventive maintenance activities and daily equipment inspections.

• Carry out maintenance work according to approved work packages and procedures.

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs within required timelines.

• Prepare accurate maintenance reports after completing repair activities.

• Support improved equipment reliability by reducing breakdowns and increasing planned maintenance activities.

• Identify equipment defects and report maintenance requirements promptly.

• Maintain safety standards before, during, and after maintenance tasks.

• Report unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices.

• Stop unsafe activities when necessary to protect employees and equipment.

• Work effectively with minimal supervision while demonstrating self-motivation and discipline.

• Collaborate with maintenance teams and other departments to achieve operational targets.

• Follow company policies, procedures, values, and compliance requirements.

• Maintain good housekeeping standards in the workplace.

Qualifications and Requirements

• VETA Grade Test 1 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering and above.

• Valid Tanzanian driving licence.

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working on Heavy Mining Equipment (HME).

• Practical experience maintaining mining equipment such as:

  • 6040 Excavators.

  • CAT785C and D Trucks.

  • CAT992 Wheel Loaders.

  • D10T Dozers.

• Experience using CAT SIS and ET diagnostic tools.

• Strong mechanical and auto-electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Competence working on RH170/6040 Excavators, CAT785C and D Trucks, and CAT992/993 Wheel Loaders.

• Computer literacy skills.

• Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with different departments.

• Good communication skills.

• Strong safety awareness and commitment.

• Good housekeeping discipline.

• Understanding of cost control and compliance requirements.
