Job Description

AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania is seeking a qualified and technically skilled professional to join its team as an Engineer 2 – Software – Fleet Management System. This position is based at Geita Gold Mining Limited in Geita and focuses on supporting, maintaining, and optimizing mining fleet management and fatigue management systems to enhance safe, reliable, and efficient mining operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with mining operations teams by providing technical support for software, hardware, communication networks, and fleet monitoring systems. The role requires strong engineering knowledge, problem-solving ability, and experience in mining technology systems to ensure continuous improvement of operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support Fleet Management System (FMS) and Fatigue Management System software and hardware operations.

  • Install, assemble, configure, and maintain field computers, GPS antennas, radio antennas, and SmartCap systems.

  • Conduct daily inspections of Fleet Management System equipment.

  • Develop preventive maintenance plans for FMS hardware.

  • Troubleshoot software, electrical, mechanical, and network-related issues.

  • Perform quality inspections of tools and consumables.

  • Install and manage Dispatch software for production users.

  • Configure user access and monitor system performance.

  • Conduct software configuration audits.

  • Maintain Minecare system installations and monitoring.

  • Install and configure SmartCap hardware and software.

  • Repair and maintain fatigue management equipment.

  • Conduct operator and supervisor training on system usage.

  • Provide refresher training for SmartCap users.

  • Install and troubleshoot network access points, hubs, and communication devices.

  • Design and implement network topology within mining areas.

  • Conduct network surveys and drive tests.

  • Optimize wireless network coverage.

  • Install, commission, and troubleshoot tower-mounted access points.

  • Commission and decommission network devices.

  • Design standalone power solutions for remote operational sites.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering schematics.

  • Use hand and power tools for installations and repairs.

  • Provide technical support to operations teams and Minecare Dispatchers.

  • Design small engineering solutions for technical workstations.

  • Maintain FMS spare parts and tools inventory.

  • Prepare monthly inventory reports.

  • Maintain workplace housekeeping standards.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Fleet Management System Superintendent.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or another related engineering field.

  • Modular Mining Certificate or equivalent mining dispatch software certification.

  • Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence (Class B, D, F, or G).

  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Knowledge of computer application software.

  • Experience with mining dispatch software systems.

  • Knowledge of network configuration.

  • Understanding of database management.

  • Knowledge of backend and frontend programming.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
