Senior Brand Manager – Spirits at Diageo is a full-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The role is responsible for driving the growth, profitability, and long-term brand equity of assigned spirits brands through strategic marketing leadership, campaign execution, and business performance management. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the Marketing Business Plan (MBP), including planning, budgeting, implementation, and performance monitoring.
The position requires strong collaboration with internal departments such as Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain, as well as external creative, media, and digital agencies to ensure successful execution of brand strategies and commercial objectives. The role also focuses on strengthening market competitiveness, improving consumer engagement, and delivering measurable business growth through innovative marketing initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and driving the Marketing Business Plan (MBP)
- Setting brand direction and delivering growth, profitability, and brand equity targets
- Aligning internal teams and external partners for effective market execution
- Monitoring campaign performance and optimising strategies using data-driven insights
- Developing annual brand plans aligned with business objectives
- Defining brand growth targets including revenue, volume, and market share
- Identifying consumer segments and business growth opportunities
- Managing and optimising Advertising and Promotion (A&P) budgets
- Tracking and reporting brand performance against key performance indicators
- Adjusting strategies based on market insights and performance trends
- Defining and maintaining brand positioning and identity
- Building long-term brand equity and market differentiation
- Leading innovation projects including new products, packaging, and product variants
- Ensuring consistency across all customer and consumer touchpoints
- Developing and implementing ATL, BTL, and digital marketing campaigns
- Leading creative campaign development with agencies
- Driving consumer engagement through brand activations and experiences
- Collaborating with Sales teams on trade execution activities
- Working with Finance teams on budget control and return on investment tracking
- Coordinating with Supply Chain teams to ensure product availability
- Managing relationships with creative, media, and digital agencies
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Business, or related field
- Minimum of 6–10 years’ experience in FMCG or consumer marketing
- Proven experience in brand management and campaign execution
- Experience managing marketing budgets and delivering business results
- Strong critical thinking and strategic planning abilities
- Financial competence and budget management skills
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
- Consumer insight development capabilities
- Project management and stakeholder coordination skills
- Creativity and innovation mindset
