Job Description
Jordan University College (JUCo) is inviting applications from qualified and experienced academic professionals for two positions of Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer in Law. This opportunity is designed for individuals who are passionate about legal education, research, and community engagement, and who are committed to developing future legal professionals in Tanzania.
The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting research, supervising students, and contributing to consultancy and institutional academic activities. This role provides an excellent platform for academic growth while contributing to the advancement of legal knowledge, justice systems, and professional legal training.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research, publications, and consultancy activities in the field of Law.
- Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Assess and mark students’ coursework and examinations and submit results within required timelines.
- Prepare teaching and learning materials for law programmes.
- Supervise and guide students in legal research projects and academic assignments.
- Mentor and support junior academic staff on academic and professional matters.
- Participate in departmental, college, and institutional academic activities.
- Organize and participate in departmental, college, and public seminars.
- Contribute to community engagement and legal outreach activities.
- Report directly to the Head of Department or designated supervisor.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or reporting officer.
Qualifications
- PhD in Law or a relevant legal field from a recognized institution.
- Master’s Degree in Law or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution.
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 at Bachelor’s degree level.
- Minimum GPA of 4.0 at Master’s degree level.
- Strong teaching, research, and academic writing skills.
- Ability to supervise students and contribute to scholarly publications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentorship skills.
- Strong understanding of legal systems, jurisprudence, and academic legal practice.
