Mwalimu Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology has announced six vacancies for the position of Driver II. The university is seeking qualified and experienced drivers to support transportation services and ensure safe and efficient movement of staff, students, and official materials.

The successful candidates will be responsible for driving university vehicles in accordance with traffic regulations, conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining log books, ensuring vehicle cleanliness and safety, and reporting any mechanical defects or incidents. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications within the application period from 19 May 2026 to 01 June 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles to approved destinations in accordance with traffic regulations
• Undertake minor mechanical repairs
• Take vehicles for routine maintenance or repair to the appointed service agent
• Maintain motor vehicle log books
• Conduct pre-inspection of assigned vehicles before travelling and report mechanical damages or defects
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of the vehicle at all times
• Ensure valid documents and permits are acquired before commencement of any journey
• Report promptly any accidents or incidents involving the vehicle to the relevant authority
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

• Holder of Form IV or Form VI Certificate
• Must possess Class C or E Driving License
• Must have attended Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any recognized institution
• Must possess training certificates qualifying them for the respective ranks
• Must have at least one year of driving experience without causing any accident
• Possession of Trade Test Grade II or Level II in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanics is an added advantage
