Silverleaf Academy is inviting applications for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Leadership Team in Arusha, Tanzania. The organization is seeking a highly experienced finance leader to guide long-term financial strategy, enterprise growth, capital planning, governance, and organizational sustainability as Silverleaf prepares for major expansion across Tanzania.

Silverleaf Academy is a fast-growing education platform focused on delivering high-quality and affordable private education to lower- and middle-income families. The organization plans to expand from 5 to 30 schools over the next 10 years, while also launching secondary education and teacher training college initiatives. The CFO will play a critical leadership role in ensuring that this growth remains financially sustainable, strategically aligned, and mission-focused.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and strengthen Silverleaf’s 10-year financial strategy and growth model
• Translate organizational growth plans into capital requirements and funding strategies
• Advise the CEO and Board on financial planning, growth pace, and risk management
• Ensure new campuses and education ventures are financially viable and scalable
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and enterprise performance planning
• Develop financial KPIs covering profitability, liquidity, and investment returns
• Conduct scenario modelling and long-term financial forecasting
• Manage capital strategy including debt, equity, grants, and blended financing
• Support investor relations, fundraising, lender negotiations, and due diligence processes
• Strengthen internal controls, governance systems, and financial risk management
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements
• Lead external audits and Board Finance Committee engagements
• Improve financial systems, automation, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure
• Standardize financial operations across campuses and regions
• Build and mentor a strong finance leadership team
• Promote financial literacy, accountability, and cost-effectiveness across the organization

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Master’s degree is strongly preferred
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is mandatory
• Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Strong experience in strategic finance, capital planning, and executive-level advisory
• Experience working within multi-site operations, growth-stage organizations, or mission-driven institutions
• Strong understanding of Tanzanian tax, regulatory, and compliance frameworks
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with ability to present complex financial matters clearly
