Background and Purpose of the Assignment

Under the Country Strategic Plan (CSP 2022–2027), WFP Tanzania supports the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in promoting equitable and inclusive economic growth. This includes investments in human capital, resilient livelihoods, and nutritious diets.

The internship position (8 months) is based in Dar es Salaam and aims to provide project management and coordination support to the Nutrition, HIV, and School-Based Programmes team under the Programme Unit.

Reporting Line

The intern will work under:

  • Direct supervision of the National Nutrition Officer.
  • Overall supervision of the Head of Nutrition, HIV and School-Based Programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Coordination

  • Provide day-to-day project management and coordination support.
  • Ensure programme activities comply with WFP standards and procedures.
  • Facilitate collaboration across programme units.
  • Support procurement, administrative, and logistical processes for meetings, missions, and workshops.

Communication and Knowledge Products

  • Develop communication materials including infographics and short videos.
  • Support advocacy and resource mobilization initiatives.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing tools and documentation.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare project briefs, concept notes, and proposals.
  • Track project data, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Develop reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.

Partnership and Knowledge Management

  • Support partnership coordination and administrative processes.
  • Maintain and update the team’s knowledge repository.
  • Strengthen knowledge management systems using innovative approaches.
  • Liaise with Programme staff and other units for timely implementation of activities.

Expected Deliverables

By the end of the internship, the selected candidate will have:

  • Provided effective project management support to the Nutrition and School Feeding Team.
  • Developed communication and knowledge products.
  • Produced timely and high-quality programme documentation and reports.
  • Improved and updated the team’s knowledge management repository.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a Postgraduate (Master’s) programme; or
  • Recent graduate (Undergraduate or Postgraduate) within six months prior to application.

Preferred Fields of Study:

  • Project Management
  • Business Administration
  • Public Administration
  • Development Studies / International Development
  • Social Sciences
  • Other relevant degrees

Experience

  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in project management or coordination.
  • Experience with project management tools is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with Government, NGOs, CSOs, Academia, or UN agencies is desirable.
  • Experience in communication materials development and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of project and knowledge management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive mindset.
  • Innovative thinking and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in Swahili.
