The role is based within the manufacturing team of Coca-Cola Kwanza in Dar es Salaam and reports to the Quality Assurance Technologist.

Role Purpose

The Quality Controller is responsible for executing laboratory analyses, interpreting results, identifying quality issues, and facilitating problem-solving activities within the production and packaging environment.

The role also includes conducting audits, coaching teams on quality standards, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to maintain compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Performing Analysis

  • Conduct required laboratory analyses according to schedules.
  • Review daily analysis schedules and complete assigned tests.
  • Record data in the Infinity system or Excel if required.
  • Perform trend analysis to identify deviations or quality risks.

Interpreting Results

  • Review analysis results daily to detect abnormalities.
  • Communicate findings with laboratory staff and production teams.
  • Ensure identified quality problems are resolved promptly.
  • Prepare reports and present findings during feedback meetings.

Problem Solving

  • Investigate out-of-control results or process deviations.
  • Apply appropriate problem-solving techniques to determine root causes.
  • Develop action plans and document gaps.
  • Verify implementation of corrective actions.
  • Update procedures and manuals to prevent recurrence.

Problem-Solving Facilitation

  • Facilitate structured problem-solving sessions using techniques such as FFA.
  • Engage production teams, lab technicians, and management in root cause analysis.
  • Assign responsibilities and track action plans.

Coaching

  • Identify training needs through audits and performance reviews.
  • Conduct quality assessments (CAP) where required.
  • Coach laboratory and production teams on quality standards and best practices.

Auditing

  • Follow the quality audit schedule (monthly, quarterly, or ad hoc).
  • Conduct audits and gather required documentation.
  • Prepare audit reports and share findings with management.

Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance according to instrumentation schedules.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and request specialist support when necessary.
  • Verify equipment functionality after maintenance.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science & Technology, Laboratory Science, or related field.
  • Diploma in Laboratory Science, Food Science, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a food processing plant.
  • Experience in a quality control environment is an advantage.
  • Preferably experience in a bottling or manufacturing setting.

Key Skills

  • Results-driven and execution-focused mindset.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with SC Ways principles and practices.
  • Experience using systems such as Infinity and Achiever.
  • Analytical, resilient, customer-focused, and risk-aware.
