Role Overview
The Transport Finance Officer is responsible for financial control, reporting, and performance analysis of transport-related operations. The role ensures accurate cost allocation, budget monitoring, vendor reconciliation, and financial compliance while supporting strategic decision-making for transport operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare transport finance reports and presentations for Executive Committee (Exco).
- Conduct Goods-in-Transit (GIT) analysis.
- Perform monthly budget versus actual analysis, with detailed variance explanations.
- Analyse transport KPIs and cost drivers in collaboration with the Transport Department.
2. Cost Control & Reconciliation
- Monitor and control transport costs, including third-party expenses.
- Review and reconcile retention charges and mileage bills.
- Ensure proper accruals are recorded.
- Match waybills for materials with Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) on a weekly basis.
- Assist in reconciliation of transport vendors.
3. General Ledger & Compliance
- Act as custodian of transport account codes within the system.
- Ensure proper allocation of costs across transport General Ledger (GL) accounts.
- Support financial compliance and accurate documentation.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Financial Controller or CFO.
Key Requirements
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification (CPA or ACCA) is required.
Work Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in manufacturing or transport industry finance.
Skills & Competencies
- SAP knowledge is an added advantage.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting capability.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
- Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across multicultural teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
