Lease Intern

This internship opportunity is designed to support branch-level leasing operations through client sourcing, appraisal of lease applications, documentation, monitoring, and portfolio supervision in line with PASS Leasing policies and procedures.

The role provides structured on-the-job training and professional exposure, enabling the intern to gain practical experience in agricultural finance, credit appraisal, portfolio management, risk monitoring, and client relationship management within a regulated leasing environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Lease Intern will work closely with the Lease Officer to support leasing activities at zonal level.

1. Business Development and Account Origination

The intern will assist in expanding the leasing portfolio by identifying and engaging potential clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sourcing, marketing, and originating lease accounts within the assigned zone
  • Visiting agro-enterprises and business clients to assess financing needs
  • Liaising with approved and prospective suppliers to support lease structuring

2. Lease Appraisal and Processing

The role involves supporting the evaluation and preparation of lease applications to ensure compliance with internal guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analysing, evaluating, and packaging lease applications in accordance with company policies
  • Preparing lease proposals for review by the Lease Officer prior to submission to approving authorities
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of all required documentation
  • Assisting in implementing approved lease facilities in line with procedures

3. Portfolio Monitoring and Supervision

The intern will assist in maintaining a healthy and compliant lease portfolio through continuous monitoring.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with internal units to support implementation and supervision of lease accounts
  • Conducting quarterly comprehensive portfolio reviews
  • Performing spot and random checks on lease transactions
  • Monitoring lease facilities and identifying early warning signals of default
  • Supporting daily portfolio management activities

4. Risk Management and Recovery Support

The intern will contribute to risk mitigation and recovery processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting resolution of problematic lease accounts in coordination with Legal and Servicing Units
  • Ensuring leased assets are adequately insured
  • Monitoring clients showing signs of financial distress
  • Assisting in repossession and recovery processes in accordance with policy

5. Compliance and Documentation

The role requires maintaining proper compliance and record management standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all legal documentation is properly completed and securely stored
  • Maintaining accurate records to support audit and regulatory compliance

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (Agricultural Economics or Agribusiness), Business Administration, Finance, or related field
  • Strong interest in agricultural finance and leasing operations
  • Basic knowledge of business analysis and financial assessment will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
