Job Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a Field Worker to support the Transmission Zero Project in conducting research and surveillance activities related to mosquito-borne diseases.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct field and laboratory research on mosquito-borne diseases and surveillance
• Collect, record, and properly store experimental data and samples
• Ensure compliance with project implementation protocols
• Support Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) activities, including data summaries and reports
• Maintain proper data management and documentation systems
• Assist Field Supervisor/Research Officer in data analysis and report writing
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Investigator
Required Skills
• Laboratory and semi-field rearing of mosquito colonies
• Mosquito identification and sorting using standard keys
• Mosquito dissection using appropriate kits
• Field mosquito trapping using different trapping methods
• Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of STATA, R Studio or related software is an added advantage
• Experience in malaria vector control research is an added advantage
Qualifications
• Secondary Education, Certificate, or Diploma in Laboratory Technology or related science field
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ research experience in vector control, mosquito biology, and laboratory rearing
Language Requirements
• Fluency in English and Swahili (written and spoken)
